Is romantic “love” overrated as a prerequisite for marriage?

“Do you love me?” are words so often heard in our world today, usually from the mouth of a woman towards the man she wants to be with forever. Often that’s the direction of the words. And of course Hollywood is quick to tell us that’s the way it’s supposed to be, as well. And to a guy, what should those words mean? “Do you have a spark for me?” “Are you ‘feeling’ ‘into’ me?” “Do you ‘lust’ for me?” “Do you think I’m attractive or beautiful?” “Do you want to marry me?” “After three to nine months of seeing me are you ready to lay down on a train track for me?” Just how can we define this word “love” in a romantic and even immature relationship and in a world that pools hundreds of meanings into a word, “love?” Continue reading

One World Religion – Coming to a City Near You?

The times we are living in are startling! Shocking events are occurring all around us which are fulfilling prophecies from the Bible and God’s faithful messengers throughout the ages! Christ Jesus told us that before His coming the world would be like it was in the days Noah and of Sodom and Gomorrah – violence, unbelief, sexual perversion of every kind, disrespect for the sanctity of marriage, and hatred for those who wish to call sin by its right name (Matthew 24:9-12, 37-39; Luke 17:26-30; Gen. 6:5-13; 19:4-7,9,14,15). All of these signs are receiving a striking fulfillment in our day!! Continue reading

False Christs and False Prophets – Coming to a City near you?

“(4) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (5) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (23) Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. (24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (25) Behold, I have told you before. (26) Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. (27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” -Matthew 24:4,5, 23-27.

Jesus gives us some very important information here that concerns our safety in the last days and our preparedness for His coming! He does not want us to be deceived and He warns us that the devil is out to do a lot of that, especially in the last days just before Jesus returns. In fact, these are the very days in which we are living now! When you look at all the prophecies of the Bible and the conditions of the world which Jesus has said would exist just before His coming, you have to come to the conclusion that we are now living in that time! Doing what is “right in our own eyes,” or God’s?

“There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” -Proverbs 14:12

In the book of Judges, chapter 17, verses 1-13, there is a story of a man named Micah and his mother. He stole “eleven hundred shekels of silver” from his mother. Later upon hearing her curses he decided to confess and then give it back. She blessed him then and said, “I had wholly dedicated the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore, I will return it to you (v.3). “..Then his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to the silversmith, and he made it into a carved image and a molded image; and they were in the house of Micah. The man Micah had a shrine, and made an ephod and household idols; and he consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

Thoughts causing sin in your life? What’s the Bible’s solution for victory?

“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: (14)  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (15)  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (James 1:13-15).

Doesn’t sin begin in our minds? Our “own lusts” or desires originate in our minds or thoughts. From the suggestion of an impure thought or idea (if entertained) comes the dwelling upon, the consuming of us, the transforming of our feelings, emotions, body chemicals, and finally the act of sin, which if repeatedly continued will lead to destruction, and if even once indulged can cause great misery depending on the situation. Repeated patterns or habits just tend to entrench themselves further essentially becoming our character. Continue reading
